Save your seat

Next one: Wednesday 11 November, 7:45pm. Parents and teens welcome. The link and the handouts come by email.

No cost, no card. You'll get the recording if you can't make it live.

What Tom covers in the hour

  • The three rules of work experience, and why most families get it wrong
  • When to start preparing for the UCAT, and why starting early backfires
  • How to pick four medical schools that are four different bets, not one
  • Why students who understand the science still lose marks, and how to stop it
  • What a medicine interview is actually testing
  • How to keep a teenager interested through four years of exams

What you take away

  • The planner: the four years from Year 10 to Year 13 on one page, with what to do when
  • The medical school comparison chart, with the columns that actually decide it
  • The work experience reflection template

Everything is yours to keep and use on your own. At the end Tom explains the Med School Roadmap programme for families who want help with it, and that's the only mention of it.

Who's running it

Tom Warrender founded Medical Mavericks in 2009 and has spent 17 years in school halls with ECGs, ultrasound and a box of syringes, showing teenagers what the inside of a hospital looks like. He's a physiologist and toxicologist by training, and he has reviewed more medicine personal statements than he'd like to count.

He wanted to be a doctor, didn't get the grades, and found a career he loves instead. The webinar is the hour he wishes someone had given his parents.

Live every Wednesday at 7:45pm, about 60 minutes plus questions. Recorded for anyone who registers and can't make it.
